Ok, the subject bar is technically a lie. I'm doing really well!

I don't have a whole lot of good stories this week. My grandma was out of town all last week for a reunion with her sisters, so papa and I got to watch action movies together. I can officially say that I never want any more exposure to the Maze Runner series (I hate zombie stories. And now the dumb things can sprint? No thanks.), and I have discovered what may officially be the worst movie I have ever seen - Sicario. It's a "drug bust gang war" thriller and it's actually R rated, but we had the TV 14 version. Papa and I didn't realize how bad it was going to be, and we kept expecting something heroic and awesome, only for the movie to end without even a real resolution. It was disturbingly violent, even edited down, and cost me a lot of sleep.

Needless to say, I have sworn off movies for the indefinite future which basically means until the next Marvel movie comes out.

In other news, my bike is still functional, in spite of the odds. We're not uncrossing our fingers yet, though.

Papa completely killed microwaves for me. He taught me how to reheat leftovers on the stove, and it is so much nicer than the soggy reheating you get from a microwave. It's true that knowledge is both a blessing and a curse.

We had a mission reunion on Friday, so I finally got to meet the Elder LeBaron who preceded me. No offense to him, but I am far and away the superior model. Furthermore, I got embroiled in a very intense game of Risk, which I won, but only because Elder Dana had to leave partway through. He was scary to play against. He systematically dismantled the rest of us.

We have a Sister who works in the gardening department Friday mornings, and she brought in a bunch of flowers on Friday with the goal of matching one to every Elder's tie. Pictures attached. (I look a little crazy, I know).

Now for the real news of the email: My proposal to rework the comparison project in Excel was accepted! I am so beyond happy, and we're starting that transition this week.

Good Morning! As of tomorrow, I am officially on my mission! Typically, I'm going to be doing mission emails on Saturdays (they're my P-days), but I got given today off so I'm sending out the first one now. Congratulations on being in the first wave! For starters, I'm going to explain what I'm doing just a little bit. Because of my anxiety/depression, my ecclesiastical leaders and I decided that a full time proselyting mission would be a bad idea. As a result, I'm serving a Young Church Service Mission. The rules are a little bit different than for the 'standard' mission (for example, Saturday P-days), but the service is every bit as important. October 8, 2018 - Happy Birthday, Mom!

Holy night this week was eventful! Slight correction: Thursday onward was eventful. Story Time! So the street I have to ride my bike down to get to the train station is a hot mess. The thing has no bike lane and zero shoulder space, so I have to ride on the sidewalk. (Those of you who've read all my emails to this point, if your spider sense isn't tingling at the mention of my bike, it should be.) Anyways, I ride on the sidewalk, but that's not necessarily fool-proof. Both sides of the sidewalk at rough and uneven, not to mention ridden with obstacles such as fire hydrants, road work signs (in spite of a complete lack of road work), and low hanging branches. On the side of the road closer to the train station, there is a field that spaces the train station from the road. It is full  of goatheads, which are essentially multi-sided thorns. Well I survived four days. It's practically a miracle. The way that the mission I'm in works (at least at the moment, there are some changes on the horizon) is each service missionary has to progress through six skills in order: Information Processing Communication (10) Research (20) Production (30) Project Coordination (40) Leadership (50) Obviously, as a brand new missionary, I started in IP. The way you advance is to earn a certain average number of points in each skill across a four week period, which right now for me includes three weeks before I was on my mission. In IP, there are two ways you can earn points - you can complete "Add Information"s, where someone sends in an error report through the Gospel Library app and you clean up the report so that it's easy for the repair people to understand quickly, or you can tag photos from this massive library of photos that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (speaking of...
